Dataset: SOS Historic/Realtime Aggregations/Godo - Sargassum Biomass/Godo
Naming Authority: org.caricoos
ID: SOS_DSG_Godo_SARGASSUM_Historic_Realtime_Agg
Documentation:
abstract: This time series dataset includes weekly estimates of Sargassum influx and discrete seawater samples of dissolved oxygen, pH and total alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon, aragonite saturation state, pCO2 and measurements of temperature and salinity from 2019 to 2024. These are used to track the dynamics on local carbon chemistry and dissolved oxygen before, during and after a Sargassum inundation event in regional coastal and near-shore zones at the southwest part of Puerto Rico.
acknowledgement: This dataset is part of the Sargassum Monitoring Program, a collaboration between the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagez and CARICOOS Inc. Special thanks to Luis Rodrigez, Julian Morell, Adolfo Gonzalez, and Maribel Velez.
comment: This dataset is part of the Sargassum Monitoring Program, a collaboration between the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagez and CARICOOS Inc.
purpose: Weekly discrete sampling to asses biogeochemical impact of Sargassum influx.
summary: Weekly measurements of seawater biogeochemical parameters and Sargassum biomass from coastal waters in southwestern Puerto Rico
