  • summary: Model output from the CARICOOS Nearshore Wave Model, a state of the art wave forecast system based on the Simulating Waves Nearshore (SWAN) spectral wave model. Model is run twice daily on CARICOOS HPC facilites. Only the regional PR-USVI grid is included in this product, however, high-resolution subgrid output is available upon request. Starting with Version 2 in 2012 the model output collection has progressed through several model versions. The latest version, SWAN Version 8, came online on November 30, 2018. All model versions share the same spatial grid and a standard set of output variables.
  • funding: The Caribbean Coastal Ocean Observing System (CARICOOS), funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is a Regional Association within the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS).
